Responsibilities
A Lead Editor applies knowledge of editorial and quality control practices, flexibly and creatively, to maintain consistency and continuity in the work completed within Test Development. An individual in this position continuously monitors and implements current trends and practices in editing and quality control relative to the field of learning and assessment. The individual contributes to process improvement activities and successfully mentors resources within the editorial team to consistently contribute to the delivery of high quality Test Development materials on schedule.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Typical work-related activities include:
  • Mentor and assist in the training of editorial staff
  • Develop and monitor editorial review and production schedules for assigned projects
  • Coordinate editorial assignments with other Lead Editors
  • Edit and proofread materials for assigned programs and projects
  • Develop, document, and perform quality control checks on tests and related materials
  • Participate in process improvement activities including implementation and documentation
  • Create and revise style guidelines and other support materials
  • Apply style guidelines during editorial process
  • Act as editorial consultant
  • Assist in development and quality control of special-use editions of tests, including braille, large-type, and audio
  • Maintain security of test and ancillary materials
  • Maintain knowledge of current trends and practices in editing and quality control
  • Foster a culture of high achievement, innovation, and accountability
Qualifications
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in English or related field required;
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.
Experience:
  • A minimum of 3 years of editorial experience preferably in an assessment or education industry setting
