I use RoboHelp every day and I have no use case for creating merged help. I do think that the knowledge of being able to create merged help is pretty cool. I could make the case for creating a separate RoboHelp project for each priority [P1 - P5], plus an overview project, plus a project for the external resources - roughly 7 projects - and I would use that strategy if there were multiple technical writers in my department.
However, it's just me.
And I really like that!
