I owe myself a dedicated page on this blog for my best friend Serbi's life as I have not posted anything about what the past month has been like for me. I also owe this blog a recap of 12-17-2025--> 2026-01-09 as those 3 weeks were 3 weeks of the highest and lowest moments of my life in recent years. In fact, I had two huge things going on in my life simultaneously. Maybe this post becomes a dedicated page about those weeks...
For the time being, the video below was posted on Saturday, 1-10-2026, and I wanted to post what I wrote in the video description on my blog.
For context, this is video from 1-3-2026. Yes, that's me playing drums on stage at the Ideal Theater in Cedar Rapids, IA, in the NewBo area.
If you listen all the way to the end of the video, one of the vocalists gives props to the drummer who doesn't know that song we just finished playing. I had said that I didn't know it as a joke but she took me seriously.
However, it turns out that I didn't play drums per the recording that everyone has heard. For example, I switched to the hihats when I should have been bashing the crash cymbal so I realized that and switched.
Overall, it was such an amazing night and to be playing Serbi's drums felt like I was truly paying tribute to my friend.
As of now, I don't really have any confidence that anyone has video of me playing Van Halen's Ain't Talking about Love, which until video evidence refutes these words, I played it flawlessly!
