University Lecture Committee Announcement: Jessica McCabe

The University of Iowa Lecture Committee, in partnership with UI Students for Disability Advocacy & Awareness, is excited to announce that YouTuber and TED Speaker Jessica McCabe will be delivering a lecture entitled "How to Be Unsuccessful in College" on Tuesday October 8th at 7:30 PM at the Englert Theatre in Iowa City.

Jessica is an actress and writer who has dedicated her life to telling her story about ADHD. Her 2017 TED Talk, "Failing at Normal: An ADHD Success Story," has nearly 1.2 million views, her YouTube channel How to ADHD has over 300,000 subscribers, and she was the keynote speaker for the 2018 International Conference on ADHD.

The CDC estimates that 11% of Americans will receive an ADHD diagnosis in their lifetime. These 1 in 10 are our friends, our co-workers, our children, our spouses, our patients, our students - and yet few people know what it means to experience life as an ADHDer. Jessica's talk will clue audience members into the realities of life with a neurodiverse brain - the struggles, the triumphs, the tears, and the laughs!

This event is not ticketed and is free and open to the public. Doors open at 7:00 PM.
