Funniest Job Ad I've Ever Seen Because...

"It's just writing!"

"A Technical writer should have plenty of time to do all the items listed in the "Primary Responsibilities" section and also do the duties in the "Documentation" section.

Please.

I'm not a stuck-up "I wouldn't stoop down to doing admin assistant work because I'm a technical writer" type person, but wow. I find it an indication of just how out of touch this company is when technical writing is considered an extension of an admin assistant. And perhaps, maybe, possibly, there's not enough work to keep a full-time technical writer busy.

That said, the technical writer could be editing job descriptions. The list of items below? I wouldn't have a period (.) at the end of the list item because it doesn't complete the sentence. If it did complete the sentence, I would make the first letter of the list item not be capitalized.

Shrug.

That's what I would do. Enjoy me laughing at their inability to get a clue... oh, sorry. You can't hear me.

Administrative Assistant for the Information Technology Department is responsible for ongoing customer service, clerical tasks and assisting the Information Technology Department with administrative needs.

Primary Responsibilities

  • General administrative duties such as:
    • Coding and obtain approvals for invoice payment.
    • Credit card reconciliation.
    • Coordinate meetings.
    • Written communications to the organization from the IT Department.
    • Check equipment in and out.
    • Enter requisitions.
    • Order supplies.
    • Track assets.
    • Receive in QAD and unpack and distribute items.
    • Purchase order reconciliation.
  • Documentation
    • Technical writer and proofreader for the IT Department.
    • Create process maps.
    • Create presentation materials.
    • Maintain metrics and charts.
    • Maintain contracts and other related documents.
    • Data entry into ServiceNow or other systems.
  • Training
    • Create training materials.
    • Conduct simple end-user training.
  • Travel
    • Research options, coordinate group travel, and book travel for the department.
  • Perform other related duties or special projects.

Job Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Minimal clerical experience is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment of continuous change and challenges.
  • Must be able to work extended hours and weekends according to schedule.
