Water under the bridge

After being laid off from Pearson, Transamerica was one of the companies with which I interviewed for a job. Obviously, it wasn't a match. The job below isn't the job we discussed, though I have to wonder if it would have been more appealing than the position they had open at the time. And, because I like to be crystal clear, NO, I'm uninterested in applying or pursuing this position, though I would like to know how they define the "Normal office environment" phrase used below.

Job Description Summary

Create and maintain in-house knowledge content for the Customer Care Call Center, including internal policies and procedures, user guides, and training documents. Translate advanced technical concepts into materials that maximize employee comprehension.

Job Description Responsibilities


  • Design, organize, and prioritize writing assignments to ensure timely release of materials.
  • Ensure communications meet standards for order, clarify, conciseness, style, and terminology.
  • Use expertise in content and knowledge management to anticipate and respond to business needs.
  • Conduct interviews, research, and run tests to ensure accuracy of information in the knowledge base repository; perform comprehensive audits and make updates as needed.
  • Provide recommendations on knowledge base enhancements or alternate solutions to improve the user experience.
  • Create graphical images, flow charts, and diagrams as needed.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, or related field, or equivalent experience with certification in structured writing
  • Five years of technical writing experience
  • Technical writing skills to apply broad knowledge of concepts and principles or expertise in a specific area
  • Outstanding writing/editing skills and attention to detail
  • Communication and research skills to gather information from multiple resources
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Proficiency formatting software, such as DocuTools, FS Pro 2020 (Information Mapping) or other authoring software.
  • Ability to learn new tools and technology quickly

Preferred Qualifications


  • Knowledge of the retirement industry and related terminology
  • Proficiency in SharePoint and Publisher
