Slappy Da Bass

Maybe I should learn bass guitar? This is an ad from the Des Moines > Musicians page:

Fairly new band looking for a bass player. Guitarist/vocalist and drummer from Muzz (had a few gigs last year and took a break to re-tool) and another guitarist/vocalist/songwriter, but we desperately need a solid bass player!

Primarily rock - 60's/70's vibe psych stuff, we love effects, we like to get out of 4/4 when possible. Blues and jazz influenced, but we all love modern alternate stuff like Tame Impala, Real Estate, King Gizzard, Radiohead, Andy Shauf, BADBADNOTGOOD, Beach House, Mac Demarco, etc. We are all HUGE Beatles fans. Pink Floyd, YES, King Crimson have been big influences.

We want to start gigging again ASAP, but haven't been able to find a good fit on bass. We're looking for someone between the ages 21-35ish. Must have decent gear, must have a working understanding of theory, must be able to improv. We're looking for a legit bass player, not a guitarist with a bass - way different mentality.

We rehearse every week in our own space and are set up to do rough recordings. If interested, reach out to Steve at show contact info or srieck29 at geee mail. I'll probably ask you for a sample of your playing. Here are a couple videos of us to get an idea of skill level:

I like how the guitarist recorded a loop of a bass part at the beginning of this tune to have a bass part without an actual bassist playing a part:

No, I actually love John Bonham too much to play bass.

I cannot give up my drums for 4 strings.
