Job Description Summary:

The Manager of Content Strategy is a critical role that supports content success across all commercial channels including outbound marketing, sales, 3rd party channel partners, events, etc. They evangelize content strategy best practices and facilitates content alignment and efficiency through a centralized, consolidated and coordinated methodology for content lifecycle management. This center of excellence will manage a team responsible for monitoring, measuring, and improving the health of the entire content ecosystem. This individual will work closely with other functions including commercial/regional marketing, BUs, sales, Brand/PR, and digital to create a strong and consistent brand voice that resonates with target personas.

Essential Functions:

  • Evangelize and educate relevant teams on content strategy best practices.
  • Supervises and directs a team of scientific, technical, and marcom writers, which would include employee hiring, training, evaluations, and discipline.
  • Conducts periodic content audits of content on digital and non-digital properties to ensure consistency and clarity of content.
  • Leads the content team to create and/or review scientific marketing content, and scientific product content.
  • Collaborates with colleagues in the marketing department to develop, maintain, and communicate a comprehensive style guide for company-wide use.
  • Implements a strategy for reviewing customer-facing, scientific content developed outside of the marketing department.
  • Supports the dissemination of key data via publications and other forms of scientific communication.
  • Leads the development of a comprehensive publication plan inclusive of planned and future publications.
  • Collaborates with the web team to maintain a knowledge center for scientific information on the IDT web site.
  • Guides the development and maintenance of product manuals with technical writers, product managers, and research staff.
  • Develops and reviews, as necessary, metrics to evaluate performance and impact of the content team.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a biological science field required.
  • Advanced degree in molecular biology or related field preferred.

Professional Experience:

  • Minimum one to three years in leadership and management roles
  • Proven experience leading change and building consensus in a highly matrixed organizational structure.
  • Relevant scientific research experience in cloning, qPCR, PCR or next generation sequencing required.
  • Minimum of three years of experience writing and editing scientific documentation in a commercial environment required. Prior writing experience in NGS and genome editing preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in life sciences business environment required.

Other Job Qualifications:

  • Proven project management skills required along with the ability to lead teams and prioritize heavy workloads to meet deadlines in a fast- paced work environment.
  • Possess strong and versatile communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to create compelling messages and with critical attention to detail.
  • Strong problem solving and analysis skills, ability to identify source and impact of problem as it relates to other functions, impact on stakeholders, and recommend solutions.
  • Superior collaboration and interpersonal skills, working effectively with senior management, executives, cross-functional and offsite teams.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; knowledge of Photoshop, HTML, InDesign/InCopy
