The State of "Popular Music"

Lizzo had backlash because of the word "spazz" which is included in the following lyrics.

Makes me think about Tom MacDonald's tune from August 31, 2020.

Falling Apart

Is it all falling apart
What was so strong
Is it all falling apart
Too short, too long
Is it all falling apart
Days end into nights
Is it all falling apart
Turn off all the lights

In the haze of the past
Seeing what should last
Commit me to you
My heart remains true
Not the beginning
Not the end
A constant reminder
Do not bend

Is it all falling apart
Days end into nights
Is it all falling apart
Turn off the lights
Is it all falling apart
What was so strong
Is it all falling apart
Too short, too long

Since I've been this way
Since I've asked to stay
Since you've been away
Since I began this long and lonely day...

[pause]

I used to write lyrics like this and filled up 19 spiral notebooks. Not all of them were as awful as the above, but some were worse...

In Spite of You

How could I make those steps daily
Without you telling me I will fail
How could I consider my life my own
WIthout you trying to take it away
I am stronger with you breathing down my throat
It gives a sense of urgency to escape
Tell me again how hopeless I am
Lights the fuel to succeed

Just to prove you wrong
Live my life each day
Hoping to never lose the will
To succeed and prosper in spite of you!

All those times you stepped on me
You told me it was a waste of time
I could sense your apathy
You didn't want me to rise unless you were still looking down
So all these years of being pushed
Time is mine to push back
Cannot mention any others
This is about redemption for my sins

Late to bed, Early to Rise

I was up until ~midnight and fell asleep almost immediately. What would I be doing up so late? I watched WWE - had to see how "Randy Orton & John Cena v. the 'entire Raw roster' would fail me. It did. It wasn't the entire Raw roster - it was hand-picked weaklings. Ric Flair, Kane, Shawn Michaels, even the Big Show - not involved. That's irritating. Instead of any of those four, you get Hacksaw Jim Duggan. At least Umaga got a double clothesline in that dropped my jaw.

After Raw, hopped on the PC. Lots of Hotmail emails, including a reminder to write reviews from myself. Yeah. Uh-huh.

I also started going through a stack of poems/songs I whittled down from a lot larger stack and organized them into stacks. 100. Going to integrate them into my daily journal. Most are from ~1992 and the heyday of my song / poetry writing. Some are impressive (to me) - others suck.

Came in to work @ 5:30 and have been cleaning up projects that are on the next update.

Also, I meet with the orthopedic surgeon tomorrow AM @ 8:15. Have to reschedule my dentist appointment @ 8.

More later.

Editor's Note: It was 113 days (3 months, 3 weeks) between my previous post and this one. I hope to not repeat that.
