Sometimes, I listen to bands I've liked for a long time and realize that I have never seen the band for an entire concert. The Offspring were one of many bands that I have heard at Memphis in May, but I didn't see their entire set.
The Offspring and I go way back. I vividly remember playing pool in the Czech Village in Cedar Rapids in what used to be across from the museum in a bar, which was one of my favorite bars, that, right now, I can't remember the name of it. Even so, I specifically remember I chose the tune "Bad Habit" from the Smash release on the jukebox.
The Offspring are just one of those bands that I enjoy, starting with Smash through all the rest of their albums. I think it's the wit in the lyrics that I would choose as my favorite part of their material. It feels like the wit is effortless and from that wit, there comes humor. Some bands are blatantly trying to be funny - Psychostick comes to mind - while The Offspring is a band who is funny because they are being truthful.
While thinking about The Offspring this morning, I realized listening to their tunes would be good background music as I work. While this is a seriously awesome setlist, it's also incomplete. From Smash, the tunes "Self-Esteem" & "Gotta Get Away" & "Bad Habit" are DEFINITELY missing, while at the same time, I think it's a very good setlist. It's kind of like when I look at a Metallica concert setlist and notice that one of my favorite tunes, "The Frayed Ends of Sanity," is not included. It's still likely to be considered a good setlist by me, but I know I would make at least one change if I could. That's what I'm trying to say about the "Best of Offspring" playlist below, which includes these tunes:
Best of Offspring
Want You Bad
Original Prankster
The Kids Aren't Alright
All I Want
You're Gonna Go Far, Kid
(Can't Get My) Head Around You
Why Don't You Get A Job?
Can't Repeat
Hit That
Pretty Fly (For A White Guy)
The Meaning Of Life
Gone Away
I Choose
Dividing By Zero/Slim Pickens Does The Right Thing And Rides The Bomb To Hell
Million Miles Away
Kristy, Are You Doing Okay?
Defy You
She's Got Issues
Days Go By
Hammerhead
Why am I even thinking about The Offspring? Because these two videos were in my "Suggested Videos" list on Youtube.com!
Metallica has announced that they will play at the 2017 edition of Rock on the Range in Columbus, OH, per this website:per this website - There are MANY of the 58 bands listed that interest me. Here's the list & under the list, is the poster that looks cool and enticing. Too bad Alex is still in school on 5/19 (a Friday) so he'd miss Friday, plus we'd probably have to drive on Thursday (5/18) to get there. He'd miss 2 days of school.
The Rock On The Range music lineup includes:

Reader 2: Is it all right to leave a temporary position early if one gets a permanent position elsewhere? I would be burning bridges, since I verbally agreed to stop looking for other jobs until the end of this assignment. There’s a small chance this temp position could turn permanent, but I feel turning down a proper permanent position would be foolish.
Karla: Define “all right.” Is it legal? Without a contract stating otherwise, employment is at-will, so odds are slim that your employer could succeed in a lawsuit over an oral agreement to stick around. Is it ethical? Don’t expect a good referral, but do request as much transition time as your new employer can spare. Now strap on that butt-pillow, and happy landings.
Here's my response.
Yes, I agree that "turning down a proper permanent position would be foolish" because it is not in the best interest of Reader 2's situation.
Reader 2 should never have "verbally agreed to stop looking for other jobs until the end of this assignment." That is not a good strategy. Reader 2 must have their objective at the forefront of their mind, which I'm guessing is to secure a permanent position. No verbal agreement should have been extended that would work against that objective.
Karla's advice about "don't expect a good referral" is opposite of what I encountered during my job search earlier this year. I applied for a contract position at a company I was interested in working at and when I was talking to the recruiter, I asked about this very situation. He said that his primary goal was to put people in the position to be successful and if it turned out that one of the other irons in the fire turned into a full-time position, of course that would be the better option. He just asked that I tell him as soon as possible so that he could handle things on his side with his customer.
As 2016 begins to enter the final stretch with only 89 days (2 months, 4 weeks) remaining, I am glad I am not searching for a job now. I hope to never have to embark upon another job search in my career. It would ruin my self-esteem!

Every year, they hold Rock Fest in Cadott, WI, in mid-July.
Every year, awesome bands, including some of my favorite bands, play at this festival.
Every year, I sigh and wish I was there.
Someday, I will be there.
It would be awesome if it was this year, since from Thursday to Sunday, a lot of my favorite bands play:
Thursday
Seether
Halestorm
All That Remains
Friday
The Offspring
Theory of a Deadman
In This Moment
Saturday
KISS
Megadeth
Stone Sour
Hellyeah
Warrant
Sunday
Mötley Crüe!!!!!!
Whitesnake <== Tommy Aldridge (a drum hero of mine) is playing with them on this tour!!!
Skillet!!!!!
The fact that Mötley Crüe, the 'bad boys of rock,' headline a show where Skillet, a Christian rock band, plays just a few hours earlier, makes this year awesome.
