Marvel Has Tapped The Director Of 'Shang-Chi' To Helm The First Of The Next Two 'Avengers' Movies
The big news coming out of Comic-Con 2022 is that the MCU will have a Phase 5 that will end with Thunderbolts in 2024 and Phase 6 that will begin with a Fantastic Four movie (the 3rd time that the well-known family team in Marvel Comics has been re-booted) followed by Avengers: The Kang Dynasty in May 2025 and Avengers: Secret Wars in November 2025. A director for the next two Avengers movies has been named and he was the director of the recent "Shang-Chi" movie. Imagine a DC-Marvel Crossover on a Movie Screen
In the first house I lived in, across the street from our house, lived David Davis. He was older than me. I remember David showed me his dresser in his room and the dresser drawers were full of comic books. I think back to how much I looked up to David as an impressionable youth.
Whenever I mention David Davis, I think it doesn't do him justice unless I write about how he introduced me to Star Wars as well. I distinctly remember he worked at the movie theater - the Plaza Theater by Lindale Mall that is now a tire store (the last time I drove past it anyways). After the movie's release, in the theaters so this happened sometime after May 25, 1977, which means I would have been 7 years, 5 months, 3 weeks (2729 days) old when this happened. David came over to my house and showed me his sketches of the weapons, aliens, weapons, and ships in the movie. I was instantly beyond impressed!
I had another neighbor across the street - Gary Hatfield - who was my age. I remember Gary had an extensive comic book collection. I also remember watching the original Batman TV show in his basement many times.
I mention all of this to convince myself that I grew up reading comic books. I know comic books. Yet, when I see the picture of the upcoming DC - Marvel comic that is being released in March 2022, I feel like I don't know comic books. I don't know who two of the characters are in the picture below.
I'm embarassed to admit that deficiency. No Regrets
When I read a review like this one - The Walking Dead #185 / 7 Nov 2018 7:13 PM PST Will The Walking Dead Comic Ever Pick Up the Pace? (The Walking Dead #185 Review) - I do not regret that I've only read a single issue of "The Walking Dead," which I purchased shortly before we left on our family vacation to New York City in May 2018. I liked that issue plenty, but it wasn't enough to convince me to subscribe or to return to that store to purchase the next issue or the one after that. Per the review of issue #185, it seems like the author's perspective is that the comic series is not moving the plot fast enough. When it picks up the pace, I may return to the idea of reading it.

Ranking Chris'
Here's a capture-worthy comment from "Tornado Chaser" that I don't want to forget:

I love the kind of analysis Tornado Chaser made. The comment lays out an argument and then backs it up with much more than the boring and mundane "because I said so, I'm right" illogical argument. "I want home videos and our pictures burned to DVDs." "Why?" "Because I want a DVD." If the response is "Because I want to have a second backup for our memories," what argument can be made against that?!? It's the "because I [want] / [said so]" argument that kills a discussion. "I want to live in [this city] when I retire." "I don't want to live in [that city] when I retire." There's a lot to be said about finding compromises in life. I can say to my wife, "I want to buy concert tickets for 10 concerts that are going to be in the area" and she can reply, "10 concerts are too many, what about picking the 3 with the highest priority instead?" There's an offer in that response that can be negotiated. I can say to my wife, "I want to buy concert tickets for 10 concerts that are going to be in the area" and she can reply, "No." There's no offer in that response.
I love the Iron Man - Captain America relationship in Civil War! I think it makes complete sense. It demonstrates more than anything the character development that has occurred for the characters. It's true that before, Cap would firmly side with the government, and Iron Man would firmly side against it, but due to events that have unfolded over the years, they've changed as people. Back in Iron Man 2, Tony completely refused to give his technology to the government, but after the events of Age of Ultron, he saw the damage he could cause due to his own reckless attitude, as Ultron caused massive damage, destruction, and human casualties. The angry mother blaming Tony for her son's death cemented his position. Tony is visibly more weathered by the many challenging things he's had to endure in Civil War - the anxiety attacks, the constant worry of an impending alien attack, and guilt. On the other hand, Cap has become completely jaded by the government after the events of The Winter Soldier, seeing that Hydra had infiltrated the government and secretly been there for decades, as well as brainwashed his best friend and turned him into an assassin. His trust in the government has been broken and it's never coming back. As he said in Civil War, the government is "run by people with agendas, and agendas change".
I also never saw Cap as grumpy, he could be seen as plain and boring, but he was always a beacon of hope due to his unwavering and well-defined morality, that could never be shaken in the face of even insurmountable odds.

Noteworthy to Mention
Just to set up the situation, Marvel’s next big movie, Black Panther, will be released on Feb. 16. It will be followed by Avengers: Infinity War on May 4 and Ant-Man and the Wasp on July 6 - and I've embedded the trailers below.
I grew up reading comic books. My favorite was "Justice League" because I loved the way the heroes would split off into teams to go on their own adventure within the context of the larger story. The best example is issue #200 (link below) because it combined the 'old' heroes with the 'new' heroes of the Justice League in an imaginative way.
Personally, I think there's just so many opportunities for the future of the MCU, even if the X-Men, Marvel Universe crossover may not happen for years, Marvel Studios boss says - If it happens at all By Julia Alexander Jan 31, 2018, 9:02am EST.. From my perspective, it's very interesting how the MCU in movies has existed for quite some time - the Wikipedia page has the details about when it started and the chronological order of the movies.

Trip to the Past
I came across this page - http://www.adamarnold.net/lshhlp/ - and wow, that is SO cool that there is a WinHelp file about the Legion of Super Heroes. I offered to convert the WinHelp file to a CHM file, using RoboHelp. I don't know if the owner of the page wants a CHM file, but I'm excited about dipping my toe back into a file format I used extensively in my career as a technical writer.
