Last night at the Mad Cool festival in Spain there was a horrific accident. An acrobat by the name of Pedro was killed during his performance before Green Day played our show.
We are so sad for Pedro and his family and we pray for them in this time of grief. I can't imagine how much suffering the friends and family are going through.

Many of you are wondering why we continued to play our show after the accident.

Green Day did not hear about the accident until after our show was over.

We didn't even know there was an acrobat performance at all.
these festivals are huge.
There are so many things happening at the same time it's impossible to keep up with every performer/artist..

We were in a back stage compound about a half mile away from the main festival stage. We were warming up ready to go at 11:25 pm.

15 minutes prior our tour management was told by local authorities to wait to go on stage because there was some sort of security issue.
Security issues are a normal occurrence and procedure at any show.. we were NOT told why which is also normal. we waited as we were instructed. Still, We had no clue there was any such accident.

We were given the ok. The band jumped into vans and drove to the main festival stage.
This was to be the last show of our European tour and we were all so excited to play our hearts out one last time.

We were on stage at around midnight and played around two and a half hours. Everything seemed normal. the crowd and fans had a good time. We got off stage and drove back to our artist compound.
It was there when we were told the shocking news about Pedro. All of us were in disbelief. I don't know why the authorities chose not to tell us about the accident before our concert. All we know is what was said after our concert.
This has never happened in the 30 years Green Day have been performing live.
If we had known prior to our performance we most likely would not have played at all. We are not heartless people. The safety and well being at any of our concerts absolutely comes first.

What happened to Pedro is unthinkable. Once again we are heartbroken for his friends and family. and we are also shocked and heartbroken for anyone that had to witness this tragedy.

1. I really don't know how anyone can give the new tune by Green Day a 'thumbs down' because I really REALLY love it, after only two complete listens, both this AM, when I got up to go to work:
   
2. I am a picky eater & I don't eat the type of foods I should. I drink too much Mountain Dew, I had pepperoni pizza for supper last night and brought the leftovers for lunch today. Veggies and fruits are rarely in my system, though I will eat applesauce & bananas on occasion. Thus, if I were in high school now - it has been 28 years since I graduated! - there is no way any person would be able to as this article suggests "teach students to ‘nudge’ others into healthy eating." It would take a monster truck to nudge me.

Speaking of movies - yes, no one was but bear with me - I realize that Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens has been out for 280 days (9 months, 5 days) but that does not mean my enthusiasm for it has waned. That's why I found myself sitting on the couch, engrossed in this long (45 minutes!) video about all the references in the movie.

I'm hoping to hear something - pretty much ANYTHING - about a new Metallica album before the end of 2016. In the meantime, Green Day is preparing a comeback with a new album called "Revolution Radio" - out 10/7/16 - and have released "Bang Bang" as their first single. I wish I had the skills to create a video like the one below. The creativity is far beyond what I think I am capable of creating.

Resurrection of a Passion

It's certainly too early to purchase a $4000 Roland electronic drum set, but I talked to a guitarist earlier today. I had spoken to him about a year ago but nothing materialized. Now, after our phone conversation, the plan is to get together after he is finished with a driveway construction project at his house. We agreed to jam these songs:

1. She by Green Day
2. All The Small Things by Blink 182
3. The Middle by Jimmy Eat World

I don't know if this project will come to fruition, but it sounds promising. We talked about just wanting to play fun songs. When he mentioned Billy Idol, I mentioned "Eyes Without a Face" instead of "Dancing with Myself." The conversation had a really good vibe, but I won't allow my enthusiasm to overrule the reality that we've never jammed together.
