The 10 Greatest Currently Active Live Bands

https://www.wearethepit.com/2023/04/the-10-greatest-currently-active-live-bands/?eml=2023April19/6035235/6424942&etsubid=131064989
Interesting list. It makes me feel out of touch with the current metal scene... I have never listened to:
1. Undeath – Never heard of them
2. Rammstein – never a complete tune – seriously!
3. Jesus Piece – Never heard of them
4. Converge – Never heard of them
5. Code Orange – Never Listened to them – have heard of them
Of the others,
1. Meshuggah – AGREE!!!
2. EYEHATEGOD - I have at least one of their albums, can't name a single tune without looking them up
3. Lamb of God – AGREE!!!
4. Metallica – AGREE!!!
5. Rob Zombie – I didn't really consider RZ "metal" but, eh, okay

Headline Writing 101

The headline writer has an odd sense of what is important at the https://blabbermouth.net/ website. Case in point, the headline about John Cooper doesn't need "Jesus-Loving" in the headline. Why not just write SKILLET's Jesus-Loving Frontman JOHN COOPER: 'I Never Understood The Roots Of Rebellion In Rock And Roll'? The headline for the Lamb of God story is plucked from this paragraph - I made the headline source bold in the quote below:
LAMB OF GOD bassist John Campbell spoke to Australia's Heavy about the band's upcoming album, "Omens", which will arrive this Friday (October 7). He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "I'm excited to finally get it out there. We recorded it back in February. We were working on it well before that. I think it's our best record ever, as I do with every one, 'cause we constantly try to outdo ourselves and I feel like somehow we do it every time. And this record is no different."

Obviously, "our best record ever" is not the full thought. He goes on to say, "as I do with every one" which is what I thought every band says when preparing to release a new album.

I had forgotten that the Lamb of God album Omens is being released tomorrow - I know what I will be listening to during my morning walk.

WUD by MeDe & LOG in CR?

Lamb of God is opening for Megadeth as they tour America. The tour arrives in Cedar Rapids on Wednesday, April 27. After watching the video below, I wonder if Lamb of God will join Megadeth on stage to play "Wake Up Dead" live.

If someone could organize a concert in 2022 with the following replacements, I would go.
  1. Replace Kingdom Come with The Pretty Reckless
  2. Replace Metallica with Lamb of God
  3. Replace Dokken with Shinedown
  4. Replace Scorpions with Korn
  5. Replace Van Halen with Def Leppard

Grannies Reacting to LOG

2 Rocking Grannies publishes their reaction to various bands. The video below is the first time Lamb of God has been reviewed.

Lyrics

By the darkest river, beneath the leafless trees
I think I'm drowning, this dream is killing me
(Wake up, wake up, wake up)
In the coldest winter, between the fading lights
I feel I'm falling into a frozen sky
(Wake up, wake up, wake up)
Past the blackest heaven, above the dying stars
I watch me breaking into a million shards
(Wake up, wake up, wake up)
But through the hardest hour, below the cruelest sign
I know I'm waking up from this wretched lie
(Wake up, wake up)
Wake up
A depression fed by overload
False perceptions, the weight of the world
A universe in the palm of your hand
The artifice of endless strands
Distraction flows down an obsessive stream
Rejection grows into oppressive screams
The hardest hour, the cruelest sign
I'm waking up from this wretched lie
I fight it the same, don't waste this day
Wake up, wake up, wake up
Memento mori
The regression of advancing modes
And Imperial corrosive nodes
A prime directive to disconnect
Reclaim yourself and resurrect
Distraction flows down an obsessive stream
Rejection grows into oppressive screams
The hardest hour, the cruelest sign
I'm waking up from this wretched lie
I fight it the same, don't waste this day
Wake up, wake up, wake up
Memento mori
There's too many choices
And I hear their relentless voices
But you've gotta run them out
Return to now and shut it down
Shut it down
A depression fed by overload
False perceptions, the weight of the world
Because there's too many choices
Gotta kill their relentless voices
I know I'm waking up from this wretched lie
The hardest hour, the cruelest sign
I'm waking up from this wretched lie
I fight it the same, don't waste this day
Wake up, wake up, wake up
Wake up, wake up
Wake up
Memento mori
Memento mori

Worthy of a Hummer

I saw Gojira as an opener for Lamb of God (along with Machine Head & Trivium) in March 2007. Judging by the way I described the bands in this concert review on Dailyvault.com, Gojira played first, then Machine Head, then Trivium, then Lamb of God. While I can't hum a single Gojira tune, I feel like I need to be able to do so, especially after listening to their new tune:

What I Should Get K for VD

The only way I would ever buy tickets for Karen & I to spend Valentine's Day 2020 at a Lamb of God is if I wanted Karen to leave me. <GRIN>

What LOG Sounds Like

And, just as a reminder, this is what Lamb of God sound like. I think this is one of my favorite tunes:

This is an instrumental version from the Modern Drummer Festival 2005. Yes, I've embedded this elsewhere on this blog but it is SO awesome, I don't give a shit. <grin>

This is the full band version, with lyrics below:

Hourglass
Track 02 of Lamb of God's 2004 album, "Ashes of The Wake".

Lyrics:

Privileged, a chosen few
Blessed with our time in hell
Witness a divine vision, the day we all fell still.
Rapture of the dying age, a shattered hourglass
Wrath of the warring gods and soon this too shall pass.

It's only getting worse, not worth a moment's regret
Each dawn another curse, every breath a twisting blade
What will be left behind in the ashes of the wake?
An ill wind blows this way, the edge of the envelope burns
Forbearance and my vengance, payment for your intent
Fear and death in the wings, in thrall of those fallen from grace
Petty is as petty does, witness the mass disgrace.

(Fear and death in the wings, in thrall of those fallen from grace
Petty is as petty does, witness the mass disgrace.)
God forbid you read the signs.
Watch for meaning between the lines
Gehenna has now arrived, no hindsight for the blind.
Your trust has been misplaced, believed the lies told to your face
Became another casualty and now it's too late.

You finally made it home,
Draped in the flag that you fell for.
And so it goes
The ashes of the wake.

It's only getting worse
It's only getting worse
It's only getting worse
It's only getting worse
It's only getting worse
