Why we Missed Hatebreed, who suck anyways...

It was 7 years ago today (2557 days), on Dec. 9, 2011, when Phil Smith, Chris Motter, and I went up to Mc Elroy Auditorium in Waterloo, IA to see Five Finger Death Punch, All That Remains, Sevendust & Hatebreed. The main thing I remember about the concert is that we walked in as Sevendust was ending. I didn't know many of the tunes that All That Remains played, but I remember their drummer had a single bass drum set and how surprised I was that he didn't have a monstrous double bass set. As for Five Finger Death Punch, I'm lying if I say I remember their set. I remember I drove that night and I remember that I thought the venue was downtown, but it isn't, so we arrived later than expected, which is why we missed Hatebreed, who suck anyways, but I regret that I didn't see more of Sevendust's set.

Sigh.. LAZERfest 2013

Nope, not going to the Des Moines area on a Friday. The lineup is out - it is a good lineup - but I'm not taking off a day of work. I saw Papa Roach at Memphis in May and saw All That Remains open for Five Finger Death Punch. I am firing up the Sick Puppies on my external hard drive - I would like to see them sometime. Their lyrics are thought-provoking.

Someday . . .

Every year, they hold Rock Fest in Cadott, WI, in mid-July.

Every year, awesome bands, including some of my favorite bands, play at this festival.

Every year, I sigh and wish I was there.

Someday, I will be there.

It would be awesome if it was this year, since from Thursday to Sunday, a lot of my favorite bands play:
  • Thursday
    • Seether
    • Halestorm
    • All That Remains
  • Friday
    • The Offspring
    • Theory of a Deadman
    • In This Moment
  • Saturday
    • KISS
    • Megadeth
    • Stone Sour
    • Hellyeah
    • Warrant
  •  Sunday
    • Mötley Crüe!!!!!!
    • Whitesnake <== Tommy Aldridge (a drum hero of mine) is playing with them on this tour!!!
    • Skillet!!!!!
The fact that Mötley Crüe, the 'bad boys of rock,' headline a show where Skillet, a Christian rock band, plays just a few hours earlier, makes this year awesome.

A Day Off? Really?

This is not a complaint, but I do not really like shopping. The whole materialistic attitude of the world is sickening. The deals you run into at the store are always encouraging you to spend more. If you spend this amount, you get this, but for $10 more, you get THAT, and THAT is much better.Yes, we ended up with THAT instead of this, which will make people I know happy.

On Friday, 12/9/11, I went with Chris and Phil to Waterloo to see Rains, Hatebreed, Sevendust, All That Remains, and Five Finger Death Punch. It was a good show. I got home at 2 AM and at 8:30 AM, I was on the road to Lynch in Mount Vernon, which was perfect because while I waited for the F-150 to have its oil changed and the tires rotated, I had about 1 hour to write my concert review. I wrote it longhand, which means that it will be edited heavily when transcribing it into the PC.That's the way I usually work. My rough draft, when handwritten, gets plenty of editing when I am typing it into the PC, which is good. I was reading where the "problem" with computers is that writers think their first draft is their final draft. I don't really have that issue. I do edit a lot. Sometimes, as recently as last week, a review started out with one paragraph as the lead-in, but it was published as the conclusion. It's strange.

Tomorrow, I return to work. My co-worker was in India since Thanksgiving Day and returned to work today, but I, my co-worker, and manager all were off work today. I am anxious to hear about the trip tomorrow.

Other than that, my weekend went way too fast.
