When I got to my desk this AM, my laptop said it was "restarting" which was odd because when I left work last night, I had not initiated a "restart" of my laptop. Eventually, I had to press the Power button because, after helping my friend Jay with his PC on 3rd level and walking with him, when I came back to my desk, it still said it was "restarting" - not a good sign. Thus, after the laptop rebooted, I got a message that there was an error on my EHD so I ran CHKDSK to see if that would clear it up. As you can see from the CHKDSK log below, yes, it did clear it up. If you search this post for the word corrupt, you will see 78 uses of that word in the log below. Obviously, something was going on!
Sometimes, I wish I understood what all of the text below really means, as far as what the machine is really trying to tell me about what the CHKDSK process found, but then I think that it would be too late in my lifetime to ever truly understand "all about the actual machine innards" that are shown below. Besides, I still need to perfect my God-granted talent of writing to the point that I don't use the word that to string together a sentence! <GRIN>
My point to all of this? Once again, CHKDSK saved my butt! The log below was generated after running CHKDSK on my EHD with my cassette-to-MP3 files as well as my "most current" version of my Music-Shell folder, which is where I store my CD-to-MP3 files. If this EHD crashed, I would be hurting in those two areas as I would probably have to rebuild those directories and, no, that would NOT be a fun task!
