I love the Iron Man - Captain America relationship in Civil War! I think it makes complete sense. It demonstrates more than anything the character development that has occurred for the characters. It's true that before, Cap would firmly side with the government, and Iron Man would firmly side against it, but due to events that have unfolded over the years, they've changed as people. Back in Iron Man 2, Tony completely refused to give his technology to the government, but after the events of Age of Ultron, he saw the damage he could cause due to his own reckless attitude, as Ultron caused massive damage, destruction, and human casualties. The angry mother blaming Tony for her son's death cemented his position. Tony is visibly more weathered by the many challenging things he's had to endure in Civil War - the anxiety attacks, the constant worry of an impending alien attack, and guilt. On the other hand, Cap has become completely jaded by the government after the events of The Winter Soldier, seeing that Hydra had infiltrated the government and secretly been there for decades, as well as brainwashed his best friend and turned him into an assassin. His trust in the government has been broken and it's never coming back. As he said in Civil War, the government is "run by people with agendas, and agendas change".
I also never saw Cap as grumpy, he could be seen as plain and boring, but he was always a beacon of hope due to his unwavering and well-defined morality, that could never be shaken in the face of even insurmountable odds.

I love the kind of analysis Tornado Chaser made. The comment lays out an argument and then backs it up with much more than the boring and mundane "because I said so, I'm right" illogical argument. "I want home videos and our pictures burned to DVDs." "Why?" "Because I want a DVD." If the response is "Because I want to have a second backup for our memories," what argument can be made against that?!? It's the "because I [want] / [said so]" argument that kills a discussion. "I want to live in [this city] when I retire." "I don't want to live in [that city] when I retire." There's a lot to be said about finding compromises in life. I can say to my wife, "I want to buy concert tickets for 10 concerts that are going to be in the area" and she can reply, "10 concerts are too many, what about picking the 3 with the highest priority instead?" There's an offer in that response that can be negotiated. I can say to my wife, "I want to buy concert tickets for 10 concerts that are going to be in the area" and she can reply, "No." There's no offer in that response.

DC & Marvel Co-Existing

I so wish that there would be a movie made where the DC & Marvel heroes in this picture came together to fight not each other but some "ENORMOUS" villain or, perhaps, from DC - Darkseid, Lex Luthor, The Joker - and from Marvel - Thanos, Doctor Octupus, and Red Skull - get thrown into the same room and realize that they are totally able to join together to wipe out their enemies forever. Maybe it would be a written contract from DC & Marvel that there would be no movies from either studio for, oh, 5 years after the release of this gargantuan movie. Something really awesome, something to be released when the Marvel Movie Universe Phase 20 is finished - and yes, they are in Phase 3 now so this would have to be probably when I am older and grayer than I am now. There are some loose ends that would need to be tied up as I realize that there are no women heroes representing the better 1/2 of all of these heroes. If it were up to me, I'd replace Deadpool with Scarlett Witch and The Hulk with Wonder Woman. There would still be a higher number of Marvel heroes (6) compared to DC (3) so I'm sure there would need to be some negotiations to be hammered through with a concerted effort to make this movie happen. CA - CW Again

I was in Elkader from Friday - Sunday and, at the theater downtown, the movie that was playing was "Captain America: Civil War." Even though I saw it last weekend (with the kids), I wanted to see it again, in the theater. Karen wouldn't go with me - superhero movies are rarely within the boundaries of movie genres she will watch - so I went to see it yesterday at noon. The difference between last weekend and yesterday is that the noon showing was in 3-D so, for $7 and some change, I had a movie ticket & a 20 oz. Mountain Dew. It's such a bargain. I could never get a a single ticket for a 3D movie and a pop for $7. This time, though, I stayed for the "after credits" scene when [SPOILER ALERT] Peter Parker is playing with a new technological toy that, I presume, came from Tony Stark / Iron Man. All this to say I came across this article - www.looper.com/13908/biggest-unanswered-questions-captain-america-civil-war/ - and yes, I'd like to know the answers to the questions raised in the article.

Belated Movie Review

On Saturday, May 28th, the kids and I went to see "Captain America: Civil War" in Elkader. Alex has declared he didn't like the movie because he didn't know who people were. He is not my movie person. Megan liked it. I liked it. It is actually going to still be at the Elkader theater this upcoming weekend - I would go see it again. I would probably add the 6 v. 6 battle of the heroes as an honorable mention on this list of the top 10 "Best Marvel Action Scenes."
