The Office Fire Drill with Slipknot

This is my favorite scene in "The Office" - its flow is excellent and the camera angles are perfect.

The Therapist

I've never seen "The Therapist" until today. I want to see more of him after seeing how he talks to Corey Taylor in this video:

What *is* Nu Metal?!?

Personally, I don't consider Incubus or Kid Rock "nu metal", but okay, whatever.

I've seen these "book your concert with a budget" graphics before for other genres. What irks me with 99.9% of these "book your concert with a budget" graphics is that there is never enough in the budget to get one from each row. You would need a budget of [10 + 20 + 30 + 40 + 50 =] $150 to do so.

As for my ideal concert?
$10 - Sevendust
$20 - Papa Roach
$30 - Incubus
$40 - Linkin Park (but only if Chester Bennington sang, otherwise, none)
$50 - Slipknot (but only because I saw Korn in 2017 at Chicago Open Air)

Out of those 15 bands, I've seen 4 - Korn, Papa Roach, P.O.D, and Sevendust, but if I factor in the number of times I've seen Papa Roach (Memphis, Moline, Cedar Rapids, Des Moines so 4 times), and the number of times I've seen Sevendust (Cedar Rapids x 2, a couple of minutes in Waterloo when they were an unannounced / unadvertised opener for Five Finger Death Punch), I get pushed up to 10. <grin>

Brilliant!

The equivalent of The Onion for heavy music fans is MetalSucks.net which I have linked to elsewhere on this blog. The latest funny thing that they posted is this article: Clickbait Magazine Says These are the 25 Best Metal Albums of All Time. 23. Napalm Death - From Enslavement to Obliteration
22. Black Sabbath - The Eternal Idol

20. Tool - 10,000 Days
19. Slayer - God Hates Us All

Just in case you aren't sure that it's meant to be interpreted as satire, there's this clue:

Deflated

On the Cedar Rapids Craigslist page for Musicians, I saw this:
|
Established metal band seeking a experienced drummer. All orginals. No covers. Ready to get back out and play asap. Shoot a text for more details. Or check out our page and have a listen. Www.facebook.com/suffocatingsilence thanks!
|
So, I went to https://www.facebook.com/SuffocatingSilence and that led me to https://www.reverbnation.com/playlist/view_playlist/-4?page_object=artist_1827738 and then there was a hissing sound as all the excitement I had felt when I read the ad left me. I felt like a deflated balloon. While I certainly commend the band for playing a style of heavy metal that is similar to Lamb of God or a hardcore metal band, it's not the type of band / musical style I envision myself playing drums on a regular basis. Doesn't mean I'm not a fan of the genre because I still contend that bands like Lamb of God and, from only hearing one song, Suffocating Silence have a lot of musicianship.

And yes, I'm still pissed that Slipknot is touring with Lamb of God but only coming to Cedar Rapids with Hatebreed.

Disbelief

I'm not buying how "awesome" it is that Slipknot is playing at the US Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids, IA. Not only are they playing on Mother's Day, they are touring with Hatebreed. I saw Hatebreed as an opening act for Slayer in Davenport and they were absolutely awful. Now they are direct support for Slipknot, a band I kind of like, but not all that much. Now, they announce they are going to go on the road this summer with Lamb of God, which is a band I really REALLY like, but when they do, they don't come close to where I live. I'd have to drive to Chicago or St. Louis in August in order to see them.
