Cyanide818 – Phantom Lord - Metallica Cover – Live at Garden Amp, 10/31/25

One of those Metallica tunes that Metallica should be playing at each show and because they don't, bands like Cyanide818 ... do and I think they slayed the tune!!

Neon Grave by Dayseeker on 2026-05-10 in West Des Moines, IA

Alex went to the Dayseeker sold out show last night without me. He sent me this video. Can I just say that Mother's Day is not a good choice for concerts, just like Christmas and Easter?

Warning: the vocalist in this video uses naughty words to hype the audience!

So Much to Say

Obviously, this blog has become neglected when it comes to actually writing about life and my journey through it. I'm not going to list out each and every thing going on in life. That said, Bad Rumor played in MO on Saturday, 3-22-2025, and I will be updating https://prhmusic.blogspot.com/p/videos-of-me-playing-drums.html - All Videos of Me Playing Drums soon. Also, on Sunday, April 6, and Monday, April 7, I will be in Chicago for a two day BAYSIDE concert! My friend Chris and I are leaving North Liberty, iA, on Sunday (time TBD) and driving to the Chicago House of Blues. We're staying in a hotel in downtown Chicago that is walking distance to the CHOB. Then, on Monday, our tickets are VIP at the level where we will meet Bayside - Anthony, Chris, Nick, and Jack - prior to the show. The band Sincere Engineer is opening the show and the fact that I don't have "Sincere Engineer" as a label on this blog tells me that I am horribly behind in my writing about my life - they are one of the bands that I have come to really like in 2025. Also, as with the rising and setting of the sun, I am getting older. Last month, I went to see my eye doctor because I thought something was wrong with the glasses I purchased in December 2024. Nope - something was wrong with my eyes. I have cataracts. I saw an eye doctor on Thursday, March 13, and nearly twp weeks later, I've not heard when my cataract removal eye surgery will happen. I don't know if I've confessed in any of the other 13,388 posts on this blog ... but I despise having any action done associated with my eyes.

Brad Williams Concert Tix Purchased!

I can't believe that today is the first time I've added a Brad Williams video to this blog! Expect more as I think he is hilarious AND I just purchased concert tickets for his show on Friday, October 11, 2024, at the Paramount Theater in Cedar Rapids! Going with 2 dudes and they are both named Matt, though one goes by "Matthew" and the other goes by "Matt" - the three of us saw Bayside together on 1-30-2019.

The Special 38

Tonight, Karen and I are going to the Riverside Casino to see 38 Special in concert. Originally, we were going to be a part of a group of 4 going to the concert. However, Kathy [of Kathy and Mike] found out that she has to work late so she gave up her tickets and is not going tonight. We learned about that on Monday.
  1. Rockin' Into the Night
  2. Wild-Eyed Southern Boys
  3. Back Where You Belong
  4. The Sound of Your Voice
  5. Back to Paradise / Honky Tonk Dancer / Rough-Housin'
  6. Teacher Teacher
  7. You Keep Runnin' Away
  8. Somebody Like You
  9. Just a Little Love
  10. Second Chance
  11. Like No Other Night
  12. Heart's on Fire
  13. Radar Rider (Riggs cover)
  14. If I'd Been the One
  15. Fantasy Girl
  16. Good Times (The Easybeats cover)
  17. Trooper With an Attitude/Drum Solo
  18. Caught Up in You
  19. Encore:
  20. Chain Lightnin'
  21. Hold On Loosely
  22. Travelin' Band (Creedence Clearwater Revival cover)

38 Special is a unique band for me. I don't own any of their albums and I know most of the tunes in the set list I found on setlist.fm, which I think is the sign of 38 Special being a really good band. I *think* I used to own a copy of the following album, which is a greatest hits, but as far as any studio albums? I don't think I've ever owned one of their albums.

Not Seeing This Show

George Strait, Chris Stapleton,  and Little Big Town would be fun to see.  Yes, this Metallica fan had an interest in going to this concert in Ames.

However, Adam, my Godson, is going to be married the same day in Davenport.

There's no discussion.

I could post in the family group chat that I have bought tickets for all of us and see what kind of reaction I would see.  Might be fun to get a rise out of people.

Maybe I should ask for the wedding to be in the morning so I can get to Ames by 3 PM. I think I am funny...

What to Do in St Louis?

As I click Publish, there are 77 days until my trip to St. Louis with Matthew to see Metallica. We are leaving on Thursday, 11-02, and will return home on Monday, 11-6. I recently found out that there's a great local band playing at Pop's in Sauget, IL, on Saturday, 11-4. I've never been to Pop's in Sauget, IL, but I know there are a lot of bands that I would like to see in concert that play there. For example, if I lived in the Saint Louis area, I would likely attend all three of these concerts:

However, I won't be going to any of them because I can't justify the 10+ hours in the car (roundtrip) to see any of those bands. Of the 5 bands listed, I've seen "The Devil Wears Prada" in concert. I also can say that Devildriver played at Chicago Open Air 2017. I could have seen them playing from a distance, but I have no specific memory of that. I remember Alex and I went to Mass on Sunday morning, but I don't recall what time we arrived at the concert. Here is the lineup from that day:

Sunday (July 16) LIneup:

Monster Energy Main Stage

  • 8:25PM Ozzy Osbourne
  • 6:25PM Stone Sour
  • 5:05PM Lamb of God
  • 3:40PM Amon Amarth
  • 2:30PM Hellyeah
  • 1:30PM Demon Hunter
  • 12:30PM DED
  • Blackcraft Stage

  • 7:20PM Slayer
  • 4:35PM Behemoth
  • 3:10PM Kyng
  • 2:00PM DevilDriver
  • 1:00PM Norma Jean
  • 12:05PM Whores
  • 11:15AM Aversed

All of that is nice to reflect upon as I think about going to see New Lingo at Pop's in Sauget, IL. This is a map from our hotel to the venus - a short 8 minute drive:

And this is what the band sounds like.

And here's some more tunes by the band.
