Yes! I am so glad that "Halo on Fire" may evolve into one of the tunes Metallica plays in concert!

I guess at this point complaining about how I wish Sandman and Nothing Else Matters would fuck off is futile. It's never going to happen and--- Ah fuck it, I wish those songs would fuck off and be swapped for different songs, each time! I don't like bands who have set rules, just change it, like Opeth, Katatonia and Dream Theater are happy to do. Metallica sets aren't as annoying as Paradise Lost ones, but still. Sometimes swap Sandman and Nothing Else Matters for Blackened and Fixxer. Sometimes Phantom Lord and Frayed Ends. Sometimes Rebel of Babylon and Spit Out the Bone. Sometimes Struggle Within and Bleeding Me, etc. you get my point. Why stick with the same two shitting songs. Predictability is boring. I think that I dislike those two songs now because they're so overplayed. Nothing Else Matters isn't even bad, it's a good song (that would sound better imo if it ended on that last note of the solo) but man, overplayed! I'd like some Beyond and Death Magnetic on each tour, not too much though, one song of each (and not Cyanide or Hell & Back, those songs, along with Now that we're dead and Enter Sandman would put me to sleep). Moaning aside, Hardwired... is the best Metallica album since 88. Yup.
I wouldn't even mind if they threw "Sandman" into the third slot and got rid of "Sad But True". They did play these tunes from the new album:

If I close my eyes and listen to this video and forget that it's Jimi Hendrix playing guitar & Mitch Mitchell playing drums, I would conclude that this band SUCKS!!!

Last night, I watched the ABC show "Splash." I had seen comedian Louie Anderson was on the show. It made me think back to 1984, when Rodney Dangerfield's "9th Annual Young Comedians Special" was on HBO.

Another Purge Part 2
So I sit in my cubicle by day and these e-mail messages come to me b/c I subscribe to various technical writer groups. I get e-mail messages about pencil shavings and I think, wow, I need to send that to my personal e-mail account so I can look it up at night. Then I get home at night and one thing leads to another and I don't look at the e-mail messages or I forgot why I thought it would be neat to look at a collection of aerial photography produced by Yann Arthus-Bertrand during the day so I don't immediately look at it. Sometimes, I get distracted by the promises I've made:

and I think about needing to do so. My mind travels through a vast landscape and I often contemplate whether I will ever 'get done' all that needs to 'get done.' It's a common theme when I talk to some co-workers and even friends. There are people shuffling in the work force, moving from job to job, but not one seems to find my employer or my department. For example, we are one manager, 4 Team Leads, and 2 non-TLs. We were a department of 13. As people left, their responsibilities have been absorbed by those that remain. It becomes a nightmare of juggling number one priorities and just hoping that the priority that was ultimately assigned as "number one" is the right "number one" in the big picture, not in the little niche of the world I inhabit. There was a meeting today and if I were to have the time to do what I want to do, I would have enough work for at least a couple of months, doing only one specific part of my job that has fell to the backburner, not because it was deemed a lower priority but because other higher priorities pushed it back. In fact, there are over 500 things I need to do (predominantly the same task for 500 different things) and, unfortunately, it's not an overall task that can be done in a week. It's not like I can complete 100 a day and be done in 5 work days. It's more like 50 a day x 10 work days. But I don't have 10 work days to devote to it.
And if I worked non-stop at home, I'd miss out funny things like an escape key making a break for it and pleas from drummers on Bandmix.com like this one, verbatim:
Im looking to join a band or start one with committed people only. Im tired of drama filled crap and people missing a thousand practices. I want people who want to play live and not just sit and jam and call yourself a band. Jaming is fun and everything but I want to play songs live.

Home & Looking Ahead a Bit
It was a good Thanksgiving break from dryers, basketball, and other things that seem to be always competing for my attention. We left Balltown a little later than I had wanted but made it home in time to grab a pair of drumsticks and arrive early enough @ STM for Karen to sing and I to play drums.
The drums are a new Yamaha electronic drum set and WOW! I could get used to playing them. The set list was mainly 3/4 time songs so not a whole lot of room to stretch out during the songs but enough to make me smile. Multiple people came up to me after Mass and said the drums sounded good. I really enjoy hearing that.
Next weekend, we are not playing b/c the Music Minister is gone. That's okay because my in-laws are all coming down to go out either Friday or Saturday to the Riverside Casino for my 40th birthday (12/4) and my brother-in-law's birthday (12/11). I get a free buffet and some spending cash.
The following weekend (12/12) is the Halestorm/Shinedown / Papa Roach concert in Cedar Rapids (free tickets!).
I think I will play the following weekend.
Backing up, this week is going to be busy:
Mon - Megan Religious Ed
Tue - Alex tutor until 4:15; basketball @ 8:30
Wed - Alex tutor from 6:30-7:30; Megan jazz band concert @ West. I am taking Alex; Karen is going to Megan's concert.
Thu - Alex concert @ school
Fri - My 40th birthday! Aforementioned in-laws arrive. We are either going to Riverside on Friday or Saturday.
So that's my week. It is going to be busy. I like that, though, as it keeps me out of trouble. Mostly. :>)

I saw a promo for season 8 of "24" on TV and WOW... I cannot wait! 1/17/10 is when the new season begins!

Finally, I cranked out 4 reviews in November http://www.dailyvault.com/reviewers.php5?id=9, surpassing my previous best of 3 in 2/2009. I have many more releases to review, including the new Creed and new Alter Bridge DVDs.

Dryer & 7th Grade & BAD as in UGLY Hendrix...
It was a fuse. Simple. Invoice will be sent by the guy and it'll be ~$100. A lot better than a new dryer.
Journey's Separate Ways always makes me think back to 7th grade. I might have mentioned this in some other rambling, but I really think 7th grade was a high point in my life, socially. It seems like when I list, in my head, the girlfriends I "had" or "considered" my girlfriend, the list is extensive. So I just have a really good feeling about 7th grade. Journey's "Separate Ways" was my favorite song. I made a mix tape for a girlfriend after we had broken up (still don't know why!?!?) and this was on the mix tape. I wish I had a) given her the mix tape and b) that I could find the mix tape so I could put *this* version on it....
Better stuff is this jam session, recorded after only 2 hours of playing together!

Dad, Michael Jackson sings "We are the World!"
I don't know what they are teaching at Alex's school. I didn't get home until after 7:00 due to a meeting and then turning in $8.75 at Fareway in cans and bottles. When I tucked him in, he told me that Michael Jackson sang, "We are the World." This kid wants to rewrite history. "No," I told him, "there were more singers than Michael Jackson."
"But Dad, I saw it on youtube," he defended himself.
"You were on youtube, when I wasn't home?" I arched my eyebrows in disapproval.
"Dad, I looked for 'we are the world' and found Michael Jackson. Then I clicked 'Delete Browser History.'" he told me.
So wrong that an 11 year-old thinks to cover his Internet tracks with deleting his browsing history.

I have a love/hate relationship with Papa Roach. I did not like their "Lovehatetragedty" release, but a few of their songs since then have made me a fan. I like their song "Scars" and I also like their new song called "Lifeline."
