Tall Tasks Even from a 1000000 Foot Ladder
Zach, my lone drum student, has to learn this drum solo for competition. Yikes! I admit intimidation when I hear it!
The competition is in "a couple of weeks," per Zach. Here's a second video of it:
And here's another video:
And one more:
I am going to pick up a copy of the sheet music tonight as I'm really going to have to do my homework in order to teach Zach!

There's a Coyote Outside and [Insert_Name_of_Dog] is Going Nuts
I like this instructor as he's down-to-earth and personable. I like how he starts to play something, messes up, and apologizes. I will resume teaching my weekly drum lesson with Zach soon and yes, if I screw up a pattern, I apologize.
I also want to know what "LARGE FRB" means...

Editor's Note: It's hard to believe, but a tag for "John Bonham" now exists on this blog.

Some Drummy Stuff
These studies will become the building blocks to learn short rolls.
Zach, my drum student, is working on "Dipsy Doodle" so I thought I'd better figure out how to play it myself too!
While looking for something else, I found these videos. When I was in high school - I think my senior year - we had a percussion ensemble and played this piece. It was a trip down memory lane as I'd forgotten both the name of the piece as well as the composer. Over the years, I have had some of these rhythms in my head - especially the whistle part because I can't whistle so our Section Leader, who could whistle, did that part.

Catching up and Becoming a K of C
Last night was crazy.
I have been teaching drum lessons for a few weeks now at 5:00 on Tuesdays. It's supposed to be a 30 minute lesson, but I never stop right at 5:30. Last night, I stopped our lesson at 5:45. From that drum lesson, I drove to Saint Thomas More so that I could become a 1st degree Knight of Columbus. The ceremony began at 6:15 and I didn't get home until 9:45ish. I look forward to being an active member in this organization.
