I have to say that I never really felt like I would be friends with the characters on this show. I know that the descriptions below are reduced to a single adjective and, to the show's credit, the characters are more than a single adjective.
Ross - too geeky
Phoebe - too dumb
Rachel - too ditzy
Joey - too dumb
Chandler - too animated
Monica - too picky
