Confession of a BR Fan

I enjoy watching "Bar Rescue" - the reality TV show where Jon Taffer walks into a bar, tells the owners that they are doing every thing wrong and then saving the bar from closing and, often times, making a difference in the lives of the people he meets - and I have to confess it to the world. This morning, after watching highlights of AEW as I went on my daily walk, I watched a short clip of Jon Taffer talking about why he wrote his book - "Don't BS Yourself" - and after watching that clip, I knew what was going to live in my ears today. Upon returning to my desk, I found it on Audible and started listening as I assemble red downtime binders for MCNL, I have it in my ears as I write this and while I'm only 11:37 in, already I have been inspired to share a quote from it. Taffer just cited a professor and business man named "Peter Goober" (WHAT A NAME, right?!?) who says that F E A R is really:
|
False
Evidence
Appearing
Real
|
My takeaway from hearing that is that I have transcribed it onto a sticky note that is now on my monitor where I will see it every moment that I am working, next to my "The No Garbage Trucks!" Pledge card - from David J. Pollay's EXCELLENT "The Law of the Garbage Truck" - a book that changed my perspective on how I live but I really can't get into that right now and get the red downtime binders for MCNL completed this morning - to remind myself to not let any false evidence that appears real to block me and determine my path in my life.
[snip corny animated GIF that would ruin my credibility]
