Must See is not Equal to All People

I received an email from TicketWeb that announced that these were "Must See" concerts. I looked at the bands / artists that TicketWeb cites as "Must See" and I know ONE band / artist, which is Jackyl, who I have zero desire to see in concert - they are certainly NOT a "Must See" band in my mind. Nonetheless, I found the email amusing enough to include below:

MUST-SEE SHOWS NEAR YOU

Jeremiah Johnson Band, Ghalia Volt

Midwest Avengers, Mammoth Piano, Frost Money

ATLiens

Keys N Krates

Missing Part 1

Can there be a Part 2 without a Part 1? Apparently, yes! Case in point: I noticed Lesson: Triplets With Left Hand Lead, Balance On The Drum Set Part 2 and that within the article, there was not a link to Part 1. Thus, my next step was to search the website for "Triplets With Left Hand Lead, Balance On The Drum Set" which gave me 4 search results:

I don't like this. I want to see Part 1 because using "Part 2" in the title implies to me (the reader) that there is a prerequisite to learning the content in Part 2.

Chaos!

From Absolute Chaos And $500K In Fines At End of Browns/Steelers Game:

Late in the fourth quarter, Browns defensive back Myles Garrett broke through the line and took a cheap shot on Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolf as he was throwing the ball. Here’s what happened next.

"How's that for a tease to watch what is being described," he wrote with a grin on his face.

M at APR

This is not going to be a topic I write about "every day" - it's merely a coincidence that Maria at Adrenaline Public Relations sent out a press release today.

Before I continue, I should state for the record that I have been receiving press releases from Maria at Adrenaline Public Relations for many years. Early in my days of writing CD reviews, she would send me promo CDs to review. While I think her writing strategy is something that she has used, unwavering since I began reading press releases from Adrenaline, I am attempting to point out why I agree with the writing strategy as well as to document my feelings within a blog post.

In the following screenshot, you can see that Maria's strategy was to include a lot of text and keep links isolated to a single place (towards the end) of the email. I think that was because there isn't anything that has been released from the band - this is a preemptive effort to generate interest in a band's upcoming release.

What's remarkable is that there is a long list clients at the bottom. The following list are the bands that have been clients:
  1. American Idol winner Lee DeWyze
  2. All That Remains
  3. Anthrax
  4. As I Lay Dying
  5. Atreyu
  6. Dethklok/Brendon Small's Galaktikon
  7. DevilDriver
  8. Drowning Pool

I love this!

It's what I want to do when I play in my Ideal Band. The gig is marketed as a "Come celebrate "So and So"'s birthday"

Notion? What's That?

I've never heard of Notion until today. Seriously. Not joking or being sarcastic. I had never heard of Notion. Read this - Notion vs Google Docs: Which Productivity Software is Better for You - to open your mind. Not sure I will use Notion, but I now know of its existence.

Massie Exposes Abortion Doctor, Asks If She Would Abort Viable Fetus

This is shockingly terrible:

Rep. Thomas Massie exposed an abortion doctor on Capitol Hill today as refused to answer his questions as to whether or not she would abort a fully viable fetus, said "abortion is moral", and said she would perform an abortion for "any reason". BONUS: BlazeTV's own Allie Beth Stuckey calls out the panel for saying there is any morally justifiable reason to abort a fully viable fetus.

Oops: McDonalds kiosks exclude cash-paying diners

I have a bank account. I didn't know that an estimated 8.4 million Americans don't have debit cards or bank accounts.

In its drive to boost sales with self-ordering kiosks, McDonalds overlooked a a key piece of data about its customers: An estimated 8.4 million Americans don't have debit cards or bank accounts, so they can't use the kiosks in about 9,000 locations, reports the Chicago Tribune. That's a problem for many franchises that have spent up to $750,000 per store for the kiosks and other upgrades. The tech push was a favorite of recently ousted CEO Steve Easterbrook, but franchisees, who make up about 93 percent of the 38,000 McDonald's restaurants globally, bristled at the cost, notes TheStreet.com. McDonald's says it is now testing kiosks that accept cash in a "small handful of U.S. restaurants."
