There was an article about a double amputee
teen that came from England to see Metallica at the Orion Festival last
weekend in Detroit. There are a lot of 'tour recap' videos of Metallica
available, but this one is worth watching. It shows one
of my drumming heroes, Lars Ulrich, talking to the teen and inviting
him onstage during their set. Ulrich really gets a lot of flack about
Napster, about the sound of his drums on Metallica's St. Anger release
and such, but this shows him as a human being. In a world that has a lot
of craziness and unrest, Ulrich talking to this teen makes me smile. A
lot.
