Toys 'R' Us looks to resurface from the grave by Christmas
What's left of the liquidated Toys 'R' Us chain
hopes to mount a comeback and re-establish
its brand in the U.S. and other markets by next year's holiday season, the
Chicago Tribune reports. Tru Kids, a new entity begun by former Toys 'R' Us
executives, is seeking licensing partners to re-establish its brand in the
markets it abandoned when it closed in the U.K., Australia and the U.S., where
it shuttered 800 retail locations, including stores in Cedar Rapids, Clive,
Council Bluffs and Davenport. The new company is reportedly considering
several options - among them, pop-up
shops, stand-alone stores and partnerships with existing retail chains like
Kroger grocery stores.
