I Liked Remote Work until...

I Liked Remote Work until I was checking my work email at 9 PM on a Friday night. What was I doing!?! The days of knee-walking drunk are long behind me in my rear view mirror of life without any chance of a U-Turn; yet, there was no way anything at work mattered or was so urgent.

It's what I actually talk about now when I'm asked if I go to the office or work from home.  I drive the 2 miles south, stopping at HyVee Gas where either Max, the manager, or Mark, his right hand man, take my ~$15 for some Mountain Dew, Quick Starts, and 2 donuts, before proceeding to my cubicle. If I'm on my perfect schedule,  I'll be walking in the door at 5:05 AM.

Before I hired Jacob as a Sr Technical Writer on my team, I would start a DOS batch file to create a backup of my Robohelp projects and then go for a walk. My routine was to walk up to 1st floor,  walk 2 laps, and then proceed to 2nd floor and 3rd floor. By the time I returned to my cubicle,  my backup was completed. Since Jacob has the Prod version of the Robohelp projects on his laptop, I don't run that backup. I need to find a new routine to keep walking.

Anyways, I enjoyed this article.
