The hyperlink in the above screenshot - Blocked attachments in Outlook - includes a table, which I have included as a screenshot below, but I am only showing the file extensions that start with the letter a.
Here's the specifics about the strategy the original author chose that I do not like. The issue is that the 1st article means that there is now a second copy of the content. Two people are now "responsible" for keeping the list of file extensions accurate: the author of the 1st article and the author of the Microsoft article.
That's dumb.
The better strategy that should have been followed by the author of the 1st article would have been to link to Blocked attachments in Outlook and not to copy / paste from that Microsoft article.
I touched upon this idea elsewhere on this blog. However, instead of copying and pasting from Single Sourcing Rant, I am providing the link to it.
That's a better strategy.

colleges & universities — focus on providing a fantastic education
to students by decreasing their administrative costs. We work in a
competitive space, ripe for innovation, with users ready to be
delighted.
Our Culture

Deliver amazing experiences
As
Kuali engineers, we learn from and teach each other, we practice
transparency and empathy, and we delight in delivering value to our
customers.
We work remotely, and have for years. Distributed work
is in our bones, with a history of institutions working across state
lines on open-source software for more than ten years. Our employees
each work in the environment where they’re happiest, from Pennsylvania
to Hawaii. We work consciously to create a collaborative and healthy
remote work culture, and we travel to meet in person a few times each
year.
Everyone should love their work.
Kuali has been voted a
for 5 years in a row by the Salt Lake Tribune. We also made
for 2020. Not too shabby.
Your product team
You
will work closely with product, design, and our customers on the Kuali
Financials product. Customers use our Financials product to efficiently
and effectively manage the complex accounting needs of higher education.
Requirements
Who are you?
We’re
looking for curious, enthusiastic, empathetic engineers to solve
problems, execute on ideas, advocate for the customer, and contribute to
a team culture built on trust and mutual respect. As a data engineer
here, you’ll have a significant impact on what we do and how we do it.
We
build and support data pipelines and reporting solutions for a range of
business needs, including end user consumption. We are focusing heavily
on greenfield development: you will build new analytics and data
services including data pipelines, data warehousing solutions, ETL
processes, end user reports, as well as the deployment mechanisms and
the platform's environments. As a Data Engineer you will have the unique
opportunity to influence major decisions from how our data platform's
cloud-based infrastructure is architected, to what modern
data-engineering frameworks and tooling are used, to how our CI/CD will
operate. While building out the new platform, you will also maintain a
light-weight, legacy solution, which will be deprecated and replaced. We
believe that great developers can always learn new tools. Above any
specific tech stack, we’re looking for versatile developers — those who
know when to think big and when to act small, and who are comfortable in
both greenfield and refactoring projects.
We believe the best
products are created by teams who represent a broad range of ideas and
perspectives. We value employees with diverse backgrounds and
experiences.
You...
Have 3+ years of Data Engineering experience or equivalent.
Architecture-level
experience conceptualizing and building infrastructure that processes,
stores, and vends large data sets for analytics purposes at an
enterprise scale in the cloud. Advanced SQL skills including database
design best practices. CTEs, functions, stored procedures don't
intimidate you.
Have hands-on experience with ETL-as-code
frameworks such as Airflow, Luigi, or Prefect or experience building ETL
processes/services from scratch with generic languages and libraries.
Experience developing and supporting reports with BI and reporting tools such as Tableau, Domo, Looker, or Sisense.
Understand
the software development lifecycle and are able to work alongside
development teams. You’re excited to collaborate closely with
Application Engineers, Product Managers, and Customer Success and use
real-time feedback to solve problems iteratively.
Are ready to help reformulate existing frameworks to improve and expand current offerings.
Aren’t afraid to get your hands dirty on devops work.
We'd be delighted if you bring experience with:
Shipping Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions
One or more of these technologies: Java, Python, Node.js, AWS
One or more relational databases: MySQL, Oracle or Postgres
One or more analytics databases: Redshift, Snowflake, or Teradata.
Report and dashboard requirements analysis and design
Front end development with React or Angular
The Higher Education community
Other things you should know:
This
team is (and has always been) fully remote. You’d be expected to have a
suitable home working environment or alternative. We try to get
together in person as a team or company 2-4 times a year.

Top-of-the-line equipment of your choice to get your job done
A truly exceptional benefits package including full premium coverage for employee and dependent medical and dental care

Space to work on self-driven projects during “hack time”
On 3-31-2022, the big news surrounding the Iowa Hawkeyes mens basketball team was that Keegan Murray was leaving the team to go to the NBA, JT was leaving the team to enter the transfer portal, and Josh Ogundule was entering the transfer portal. It was unknown whether Fran would be successful in attracting a 5 (we used to call the position a "center") from the transfer portal to the team. It was also unknown how these 3 departures, as well as the departure of Jordan Bohannon, would impact the team.
This was initially a simple post, with only the video below embedded in it. This is a screenshot of Version 1.0 of this post: ------------------->
You can consider there to now be a Version 2.0 of this post.
Why? Why would I take a simple post and turn it into a post with a lot more words?
Blame math.
I can hear your groan. Math helped me to figure out that this post represents the 130th post in the month of March, which is
the sum of my posts in January (64) & February (66). I doubt that
the sum of my posts on April 30, 2023, will be the sum of my posts in
January (64), February (66), and March (130), which would be 260 as that
would mean an average of 13 posts a day! For that calculation, I used
the four full weeks of April to equal 20 days.
At this moment in time, I don't post to this blog on the weekend,
which is something fairly recent. When I was trying to free up room on
my cell phone at the beginning of March, I uninstalled the Blogger app
from my cell phone. Side note, it was the Dropbox app that was taking up
most of my storage room on my cell phone. I haven't reinstalled the
Blogger app and don't plan to do so at this time. I'm open to doing so,
especially when I might want to post while at a concert.
I think my next concert may not be until Saturday, April 29 in Des
Moines with Alex. While we don't have tickets yet, I want to go see
Every Avenue / Makeout / Unwell at Lefty's with him. I had such a good
time at their show at Gabes in Iowa City at the beginning of March. It
would be the first time when I could say that the last two concerts I
saw were of the same bands on the same tour in different cities.
I am a geek when it comes to Star Wars. I credit videos like the one below for training my eyes to watch the screen actively and to be looking for Easter eggs and references to other aspects of the franchise. Some of the ideas in the video below were ones that I actually saw during my initial viewing of the episode while other ideas were new. For example, in the New Republic bar, there's a character who is making his live action debut after being included in one of the animated series that I don't watch. I might have seen a picture of the character before but I didn't know his name - it's the alien in the video preview below, on the right side, and no, I didn't plan that. I just want to make the point that videos like the one below enhance my own Star Wars experience. I dabble in a lot of subject matter areas (SMAs) - pro wrestling, Metallica, drums, technical writing, politics - and rely on videos like the one below to enhance my knowledge. I don't consider myself to be a subject matter expert (SME) in any of those areas.
I just realized I didn't mention the phone call on Monday night. I was home while Karen was at a hair appointment and our landline phone rang. On the other end was a woman in FL taking a poll about voters in Iowa. As we spoke, it became clear that she was basically calling on behalf of supporting Ron DeSantis, who may be a good candidate for president, but he hasn't declared he is running as of today. I secretly hope that Trump doesn't run because I believe the Dems / Libs are more scared of DeSantis than they are of Trump, but I digress. I want to report that I spoke to this woman for nearly 30 minutes. While I didn't agree with some of her statements, at the end of the conversation, she told me that I had done a really good job. Was she blowing smoke up my butt? Sure, that's certainly possible. For the record, I do like to speak politics - which is why I subscribe to The Daily Wire as well as why I have the "Get Your Political Opinions Here" pages on this blog. I have to be very conscious about who I am speaking politics with as I have seen politics divide families into two camps as well as friends divide into two camps. I love my family and I love my friends, I don't love politics more than my family and my friends, if that makes sense.
Trevor Lee Hopkins
1975 - 2023
Obituary
Obituary of Trevor Lee Hopkins
Trevor Lee Hopkins, age 47 of Iowa City, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died
suddenly of an apparent heart attack at his home in which he nicknamed “The
Sunshine House,” on Friday, March 17, 2023.
A time for family and friends to gather will be held from 4 to 7 p.m.
Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service
concluding with some words from family and friends beginning at 6:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in his memory to the Iowa
City Bike Library or the Domestic Violence Intervention Program (DVIP).
Trevor Lee Hopkins was born July 22, 1975, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa the son of
William “Bill” C. and Bernetta “Bunny” Lee (Nehring) Hopkins. Following graduation
from George Washington High School in 1993, he attended San Francisco State
University for education in Sound Design and Music Production. Trevor has spent
his entire working life in the fields of music, food, and making community
connections. Growing up, he loved spending time at their family’s cabin and
cooking up a storm in the kitchen. He also worked many hours in his dad’s
business repairing 4-wheel drive vehicles, with a special affinity for Jeeps.
His job titles included audio engineer, talent buyer, music producer, Little
Village’s Distribution Manager, and cook. He liked his jobs, often holding 3 or
4 of them at once. He started his career in the music business at The Green
Room and became an integral part of The Mill’s legacy. Most recently, he
enjoyed his time as a cook for the University of Iowa mentoring and teaching
students and cooking for his favorite, Bluder’s Bunch: the Iowa Women’s
Basketball Team. Coach Bluder often credited their wins at home to their
pregame meal.
Trevor had so many passions and wanted to share them with all he knew, doing so
with love and selflessness. He was a friend to everyone and saw the best in
people. His life’s mission was to, as he said it, “put people on stage” and
that he did. Trevor was instrumental in starting the annual Mission Creek
Festival and helping to save the Englert Theatre. As was so eloquently said,
“if you have attended a show in Iowa City over the last few decades, chances
are Trevor had something to do with it, and was one of the reasons it was a
success.” His influence will continue to radiate in this community
indefinitely.
Trevor loved playing the drums, the Packers, the Cubs, swimming, and biking. He
loved to travel with his best friend, the love of his life, his wife, Ashlee.
He was a serious and very good photographer and enjoyed politics and staying
informed with all the news of the day. Most importantly he wanted everyone to
have fun. Often not letting his mom, Bunny Lee, get off the phone until he got
her to laugh.
Trevor’s family includes his wife, Ashlee Louise; his parents, Bill and Bunny
Hopkins; sister and her husband, Tonia Louise and Jason Rowe; niece, Ella Rowe;
nephew, Liam Rowe; father-in-law, Terry Davis; and sisters-in-law and their
families, Taylor and Brandon Lawson and their children, Lucy and Milo, and
Maycee and Trevor Piles and their children, Colin, Ashton, Bennett, Aubrey and
Veda; and Trevor’s furry family, Nic, Dr. Levi Puppernicle Lee Hopkins and Lil’
Rosie.
Trevor was a man who never met a stranger, loved to make you happy and wanted
you to laugh; simply cared about not only those he loved as family and friends,
but truly those he had yet to meet and share his wit, humor, music, food,
family, friends but most importantly his love for all.
I know my favorite mother-in-law cannot stand Roseanne, but I never really minded her. Sure, she's a very abrasive character in the original series. However, there are enough "seconds" in the video embedded below that remind me of authentic and non-abrasive moments in the original series. For example, the original series confronted spousal abuse as well as raising children. While I don't think I would ask for parenting advice, I do think that there are moments when Roseanne was a really good TV mom. I also think that her character understood when to pour on the abrasiveness and when to be a good person. I also liked the original series because there were occasional episodes where both Roseanne and Dan (her TV husband) dealt with their own marriage as well as their relationship with their parents and Jackie (Roseanne's sister) throughout the series. When Jackie was hit by her husband, it was Dan who confronted the husband - his name escapes me - and ended up in jail. I thought that proved he was a fantastic brother-in-law. I realize that one second of every episode is only a brief sample of the original series and, I can say this, there are many other "seconds" in the various episodes I might have chosen. Yet, this is a great compilation video - I'd assign a solid B to it as a grade, which also means it is worth the time it takes to watch it.
