Despite what the author of this analysis - Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode Embarrass Tag Division and More WWE Raw Fallout - says, I am happy when Dolph Ziggler is on TV. I don't care if he's a heel or a face or a contender for a tag team belt with a brand-new partner. I think he is a great performer and I feel that he deserves time on TV. I feel the same about Elias, though I truly wish his character would find a true feud in which he could flourish. Selfishly, I would enjoy an episode of Raw with a lot more of the 'random pairing of two wrestlers to be in the tag team championship picture' as it opens the door for new and exciting partnerships. It's why I like the pairing of Braun Strowman and Seth Rollins as champions. In fact, the next PPV is called Clash of Champions and every championship is up for grabs. Traditionally, that doesn't always translate into the challenger winning, but sometimes it happens.
As of Wednesday morning, Seth Rollins is pulling double duty. Not only will he face Braun Strowman for the Universal Championship, he is also going to be Strowman's teammate for the tag titles. I will be very curious how this plays out. What if the Rollins v. Strowman for the Universal Championship match happens prior to the tag team title match and, in that match, Strowman wins? Will Rollins accept that he lost that belt quickly enough to then be a good partner for Strowman? Will he have no energy left for his second match? On the flipside, what if the tag team title match happens first and a miscommunication causes Rollins & Strowman to lose? For example, Rollins is the legal man and Strowman blindly knocks Rollins down by mistake. Then Strowman gets double-teamed and thrown out of the ring, leaving Rollins in a daze without Strowman to save him, which allows Rollins to lose the tag team championship. Would that cause Rollins & Strowman's Universal Championship match be that more intense?
The Clash of Champions PPV is a few weeks away so I'll have to stay tuned!
