Kudos to your Eyes

I came upon this ad. My reasons for including it as a post on this blog are the following:
  1. I actually am working on a Disaster Recovery manual at work.
  2. I actually know what HIPPA is!
  3. I actually know about ITIL enough to say that ITIL is not a set of standards - it is a set of guidelines!
  4. The ad itself actually is also a perfect example of poor design!

Job Description


As a trusted systems integrator for more than 50 years, General Dynamics Information Technology provides information technology (IT), systems engineering, professional services and simulation and training to customers in the defense, federal civilian government, health, homeland security, intelligence, state and local government and commercial sectors.
  • Researches and compiles technical data for use in various operation and maintenance manuals, training materials, installation guides, and other technical documentation.
  • Obtains data from review of documentation, drawings, schematics, and reports, interviews with technical staff, and the study of published material.
  • Prepares written text and coordinates layout and organization of materials according to prepared outlines and specifications.
  • Proofreads material prepared by other technical writers.

Education


Associates Degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, professional training, or work experience.

Qualifications


  • 3-5 years of related experience preparing technical documentation.
  • Must be able to pass a Public Trust Level 5 background investigation
  • Familiarity with Electronic Health Records highly desired
  • Familiarity with Agile Methodology highly desired
  • Must have Microsoft Word experience
  • Experience with Adobe Acrobat is a plus
  • Familiarity with remediation of technical documentation to comply with accessibility standards such as 508 compliance
  • Knowledge of the VistA electronic health record or Resource Patient Management System (RPMS) is a plus
  • Working knowledge of MS Team Foundation is preferred
  • An understanding of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Enterprise Performance Life Cycle (EPLC) is highly desired
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the principles and practices involved in technical research and writing
  • Knowledge of and ability to uses various word-processing and desktop publishing software applications
  • Knowledge of the organization’s products and services, customer requirements, purpose and structure of required documentation, and end user’s level of understanding
  • Effective written communications skills
