Met - Past & Present

Despite an ill-advised Prince cover, Metallica keep things tight and loud at Target Center
From the above:
Trujillo stepped up to the microphone and gruffly commanded the crowd to sing along “even if you don’t like the song” and added menacingly “have fun with this, we spent some time with this.” As the two started chugging along, it took a bit to figure out they were attempting Prince’s “When Doves Cry,” a song that notably has no bass in it.
If you’ve ever wondered what half of Metallica sounds like covering Prince, well, it was worse than you can imagine. They attempted to Metallica-ize it, with Trujillo gruffly barking out the lyrics. It was so terrible, it may have been a complete joke – a joke that wasn’t funny. At least it didn’t last long.
