Technicial Writer
Cobham - Davenport, IA
Cobham is seeking a Technical Writer that will be responsible for researching, writing, editing, and proofreading technical data for use in documents such as Specifications (SPs), Procedural Documents (PDs), and Standards (STs) within the aerospace and defense industry. This position is located in Davenport, Iowa.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensures technical documentation is accurate, complete, meets editorial and government specifications and adheres to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format and style
- Handles contract data item preparation
- Submits data items via customer portals
- Prepares and edits artwork
- Researches standards and specifications
- Coordinates with engineering personnel on preparation of data items
- Performs all operations according to prescribed safety principles
- All other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- 3+ years’ experience working as a Technical Writer
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Technical Writing, Communications, or engineering
- Advanced experience using computer software programs such as MS Office and Adobe Pro
- Ability to take complex information and write it in an understandable manner
- This position requires access to technology material, software or hardware that is controlled by export laws in the US. In order to be eligible you must be either a US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1+ years preparing bids and proposals for new product development
- Experience working in an aerospace or defense industry
- Experience using Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, or MS Visio
- Strong attention to detail
- Effective verbal/written communications and interpersonal skills
