Traffic cameras reactivated by the Cedar Rapids Police Department on July 1 issued 5,100 citations in their first four days of operation, reports the Gazette. Cameras on the northbound and southbound lanes of I-380 at J Avenue NE accounted for nearly 4,500 tickets, most for going 12-20 mph over the 55 mph speed limit. Police said they have been made aware of at least one instance where a driver got a ticket for driving 60 mph in a 55 mph zone, reports KCRG. That ticket will be dismissed, as will others issued for exceeding the speed limit by less than 12 miles an hour, according to police.
