MOTW

Given: Make a link on a HTML page in your RoboHelp WebHelp system that is installed on the local c:\ open a PDF that is also stored on c:\ drive.

Here's other 'givens':

If you include Mark of the Web (MOTW) in your HTML files, the link to the PDF breaks but all your HTML pages do not display the information bar in IE 7.

If you don't include MOTW, the link to the PDF works but all your HTML pages display the information bar in IE 7.

If you embed each PDF into its own HTML file , you have to deal with "very limited options, can't be resized, lacking toolbars."

The only workaround I see is to right-click the link to the PDF, select "Save Shortcut," go to the Address bar, right-click, select Paste, then press . That "solution" is a technical workaround and not user-friendly.

My (cool) manager wants the PDFs distributed with the Help.

Putting the PDFs on our server is not an option.

Putting all of our online Help on our server is not an option either. All programming resources are tied up in critical projects that cannot be delayed while they would be working on this issue.

What do you do?
