Jefferson Choir

Last week, I read about the Jefferson principal denying a request for the Jefferson show choir to perform in Chicago. The principal cited scheduling conflicts as the competition is on the same weekend as "the high school’s prom, Drake Relays and the United States Academic Decathlon Nationals Competition." There was outcry from the parents and students.

Today, per this article, the choir will rehearse and then the director will decide if they can compete in Chicago. Sorry, but if the choir director says, "No, we're not going" I will be very surprised. Per the same article, "On March 29, an email statement from the Cedar Rapids Community School District announced that Superintendent Dave Benson would review Jefferson administrators’ action." Very interesting. Someone got into Benson's ear and either made a compelling case or whined to the point that Benson said, "Fine. I'll do my job and investigate."
